It was beautiful weather for our 14th annual Disabled Sportsman Tournament this past Friday! What an awesome day to spend on the beach! The Tournament was a smashing success with 295 participants! There were many smiles, and much fun had by all! Thanks to everyone who came out and volunteered, it is truly a blessing to have so many loving and willing people to devot their time to such a wonderful cause!

Many thanks to Dawson Freuler, the event chairman! This year was his last serving in this capacity. Alsomany thanks to Rick and Donna Sloan, Marc LeBlanc, and Alan Votta! Without your help, this event wouldn't have been such a success!

Congratulations to Vickie Barrett of Holly Ridge! Vickie won the custom Playhouse by Alan Votta!

Our first flounder points tournament will be held on Saturday, June 9th. I will update on registration location in the week or so.

Cape Fear Disabled Sportsman Tournament on May 11th!

Our next event is this Friday, May 11th, for the Cape Fear Disabled Fishing Tournament. Location is at the Kure Beach Pier. If you'd like to come volunteer, please come around 6:30am. Participants will be showing up by 7:30. Food, beverages, and volunteer tshirts will be available! Awards will start around 12:30.

If you haven't volunteered for this event before, you should really come check it out! Usually we have around 300-350 special needs fisherman show up for a fun filled day. For many, it seems as though its the highlight of the year to them! The joy and charisma they display is truly a blessing to watch!

Pig Pickn' Saturday April 28th!

Bud and Joes and Alan Votta are putting on a pig pickn for the Disabled Tournament on Saturday!

The event will be located at the corner of Fort Fisher Blvd and K Ave, right across the street from Jack Mackeral's.

Plates will be $7, and assorted beverages, including beer will be available.

All proceeds will directly benefit the Cape Fear Disabled Sportsman Tournament!

We will also be selling the raffle tickets for the custom playhouse Alan Votta built!

Please come out and join us for some good food and good times!

It looks like summer is almost here! It certainly feels that way. I don't know about everyone else but it was a long winter for me. Fishing time is here!

This past weekend we had the Azalea Festival Cookout/Social! It was a success! Lynn Ray and his crew cooked some delicious hotdogs and hamburgers in honor of Mac McSwain. Some of the best burgers I ever had! The weather was great, music was good, and the company was better!

Our Next Event: Cape Fear Disabled Sportsman

On May 11th, the disabled tournament will be held at the Kure Beach Pier. Usually this event brings in around 350 participants. We can always use more volunteers, as you can imagine, it gets pretty hectic! It is a truly awesome event to be a part of. To see the joy and excitement in every participant, makes the day totally worth every bit.

This year Alan Votta Construction was gracious enough to build the GEO another playhouse to raffle off! This is an enormous gesture, and really benefits the Club. If you see him, please express your gratitude! Tickets are available for purchase. Please contact Dawson Freuler @ 910-264-8397 or Donna Hersh @ 910-458-4094 if you'd like to purchase or get tickets to sell. Any help with this will be very appreciated!

Bud n Joes is throwing a fundraiser for the event on April 28th. There will be a pigpickin! BBQ plates available with purchase of a ticket for the playhouse! I will keep everyone posted as plans for this progress.

Sorry everyone, the website hasn't been updated regularly. (Obviously) I just recieved an admin password, and so I'm trying to teach myself how this website works.

Calendar is up to date for the scheduled tournaments/socials/etc.

The Got-em-on annual "Chowder Cook Off" and "Dessert Contest" is coming up on Saturday February 11th at Snow's Cut Park on river road. Judging starts at 1:00 pm and prizes will be awarded in both categories.

Trophies for our annual Chart Buster winners and 2011 Points Tournament will be awarded at this event. Lots of club hats, shirts and other neat stuff will be up for sale. Everyone come on out and bring your favorite Chowder or Dessert and have a great time! Actually, you don't have to bring anything! A smile and a healthy appetite would be good; and pray for decent weather, 'cause we're doing it rain or shine! (Snow might be another story)

"Flotilla Party"

A Flotilla Party will be held on Saturday December 3rd at "Freddie's Yacht Yard" (400 Block of Canal Drive). The party will start at 5:30 pm. Frank Grady will be cooking a delicious meal and there will be lots of cold beverages on ice. This will be our last get together for the year and it has always been great fun. We look forward to seeing everyone there.

Got-Em-On Open Board Meeting

There will be a Got-Em-On Board Meeting open to all members on November 10th, 2011. The meeting will take place at the Federal Point History Center (1121 N Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach) and will start at 7:00 pm.
