East Coast Got-Em-On Classic King Mackerel Tournament

East Coast Got-Em-On Classic King Mackerel Tournament
This year's tournament will be held on July 10, 11 & 12th and the deadline for entries will be 11:00 pm on July 10, 2009. Fishing will be a Captains choice. The Captains must select their fishing day on the application before the close of the tournament sign in desk (11:00pm on July 10,2009). The fishing boundries: Must fish West of Longitude 76 degrees 30' 00" and East of Longitude 79 degrees 17' 00".
All this information and more can be found on the tournament's website: http://gotemonliveclassic.com/ . Awards will take place on Sunday July 12th, 8:00 pm at the Carolina Beach Municipal Docks. This event is our oldest and largest fundraiser. Please come out and support the tournament and its participants.

1st Flounder Points Tournament
Our 1st Flounder Points Tournament of the year will be held on Saturday June 20th. Registration is on Friday, June 19th at the "Harbor Masters" (315 Canal Drive, Carolina Beach) from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Fishing will be from sunrise until 3:00 pm, weigh-in will be at "Freddie's Yacht Yard" (400 Block of Canal Drive). Must be in line to weigh no later than 3:00 pm. We should have a large turn out with lots of new faces. Look forward to seeing everyone there!!
"Results"
We had a total of 72 entries and 42 fish weighed in. The winners were: 1st place "Vic Matthis" 5.65 lbs, 2nd place "Fred Davis" 5.50 lbs, 3rd place "Neil Clark" 4.15 lbs, 4th place "Karl Anderson" 3.85 lbs and 5th place "Paul Ballard" 3.75 lbs. What a great way to start the season!!! Also it sure was "HOT" out there today.

This years host site "Waterway Inn" www.waterwayinn.net rooms are sold out. Rooms are still available at the "Best Western Silver Creek Inn" www.bestwesternsilvercreekinn.com (1-877-459-1448). The motel is located 1 mile from the Waterway Inn. The date of the special room rates will expire on June 21st. Remember to call the motel direct to get the discount and let them know that you are a Got-Em-On club member. Also boatslips are still available at "Dudley's Marina" (1-252-393-2204) and the slip rental is .75 a foot and is located 2 blocks from the Waterway Inn.
Tournament date is July 25th and the location is "Swansboro, NC".

The The Got-Em-On Live Bait Club is supporting the Step Up for Soldiers organization this Saturday morning May 30th to host another fun day of fishing for Children of service members from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard & National Guard will be attending. The tournament will be held from 7:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Kure Beach Fishing Pier. 11th Annual Cape Fear Disabled Sportsman's Tournament

11th Annual Cape Fear Disabled Sportsman's Tournament
The Cape Fear Disabled Sportsman's Tournament 11th Annual Tournament will proudly be held on friday, May 15th, 2009 at the Kure Beach Fishing Pier from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm. There will be an awards ceremony held shortley afterward.
Through donations and volunteers this tournament is in its 11th year of existance. Support of the Club and Sponsors have made it possible to host over 340 participants and along with their attendance and parents last year's tournament welcomed over 500 people!! Contestants and Attendants were treated to breakfast, lunch, snacks, beverages, a tournament T-Shirt and all the necessary fishing equipment. At the end of a great day of fishing many contestants were awarded prizes and all contestants were given goody bags to take home along with great memories.

"Azalea Festival Blowout"
The Azalea Festival Blowout will be held on Saturday April 4th at Freddie's Yacht Yard (400 Block of Canal Drive) from 1 o'clock until 5 pm. Vic & Lisa Mathis and John Batson will be serving an old fashion southern style "Pig Pickin" with all the dressings. Lunch will be served around 2 o'clock. Entertainment will be provided by DJ David Wade of "Shanty's Beach & Blues Club", playing the best of Beach Music.
We will be having a "Best Dessert" and a "Best Spring Fling Bonnet" contest. Prizes will be awarded in both contests. We will also be having our annual raffle drawings ( raffle tickets will be available for purchase on site) and some new club merchandise will be available for sale. Look forward to seeing everyone there!!!
"Results"
This might have been our best ever!! The weather was great and we had over 200 people in attendance. Vic & Lisa Mathis and John Batson cooked a great meal that left smiles on everyone's faces! The desserts were great also, with the "Best Dessert" going to "Susie Gurganus" and the winner of the "Best Spring Fling Bonnet" going to "Olivia Ryan". What a way to get our season started!! A special thanks goes out to all who helped make this event possible. DJ David Wade's music was awesome as usual !

This years Road Warrior Tournament will take place again in Swansboro, NC. Host site will be the "Waterway Inn" www.waterwayinn.net (1-877-216-4206). Dave has started taking reservations since the Chowder Cook off. The members that stayed there last year will have the first right of refusal to stay again this year due to the large number of reservations last year. He will be making a list of people that would like to stay also as a back up. Lodging will also be available at the "Best Western Silver Creek Inn" www.bestwesternsilvercreekinn.com (1-877-459-1448). The motel is located 1 mile from the Waterway Inn and has offered the club a special rate of $110.00 plus taxes per night fee for rooms consisting of 1 King or 2 Queen beds in either smoking or non smoking rooms. There is a two day minimum stay and you have to call the motel direct to get the discount and let them know that you are a Got-Em-On club member. A block of 25 rooms have been reserved until the 21st of June and the individual has until 3 pm the day before their arrival to cancel their room. Boatslips are available at "Dudley's Marina" (1-252-393-2204) and the slip rental is .75 a foot and is located 2 blocks from Waterway Inn. A boat ramp is located at Dudley's Marina and the lot next door to the Waterway Inn. Hope yall can make it!!

Chowder & Dessert Cook Off

Chowder Cook Off
Well, its a New Year and time to start the year off right with a social. We will have our annual "Chowder Cook Off" and "Dessert Contest" on February 28th at Snow's Cut Park on river road. Event starts at 1:00 pm and prizes will be awarded in both categories.
Trophies for our annual Chart Buster winners will also be given out at this time. Lots of club hats, shirts and other items will be offered for sale. Everyone come on out and bring your favorite Chowder or Dessert and have a great time. I look forward to seeing you there!!!!
"Results"
The winners were: "Donna Gurganus" for the Chowder and "Karen Coleman" for the Dessert. We had alot of very good Chowders and Desserts entered. We sure are blessed to have so many great cooks in the club. Even with bad weather the turnout was great, maybe one of our largest.

Well another year has gone and we are working on the 2009 Schedule of events. They will be coming out soon, so everyone can make their plans. I want to take this time to ask if anyone would be interested in writing the newsletter for the club this year. The newsletter comes out quarterly and we need someone to step up. A Flotilla Party will be held at "Freddie's Yacht Yard" (400 Block of Canal Drive) on Saturday December 6th starting at 5:30 pm. Lynn Ray will be cooking dinner !!! Music will be provided by "DJ" David Wade. Look forward to seeing everyone there.
